Does your book have shock and awe?

I’m working on a series definition. Here’s a quote I’d like to share:

The book employs some ‘shock and awe’ early on – the reader is amazed at the big result they achieve with little effort. No 20-line implementations of Hello World ‘to illustrate the main concepts’ here. It’s better to have the reader start with something impressive that they don’t understand but wish they did – you have captured their motivation and attention, and have the rest of the book to give them understanding.
